Spiritual Warfare

The Great Controversy

Lucifer was a powerful angel in heaven with an exalted position. He was the “anointed cherub that covereth.”. He was over all the angels and occupied a very high position radiant with light, but never over God’s throne. He was very beautiful and had a beautiful voice. He led the choirs of heaven (Ezekiel 28:12-14). But because Lucifer was proud of his beauty, he came to indulge the desire for self-exaltation. He chose himself over God, initiating the rebellion that still rages on today.  Read More >>

The Armour of God

God has designed that all the literal battles recorded in the Bible—from Gideon’s conflict with the Midianites to David’s defeat of Goliath—can serve to teach us how we might experience victory in spiritual combat. Naturally, it should stand to reason that because these battles are of a spiritual nature, the weapons we employ must also be spiritual. Although our armor and weapons are spiritual, this does not mean they are unreal or ineffective. “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, . . .   Read More >>

Tips For Resisting Temptation

Since the entrance of sin into the world, a war has been raging in every human heart between the spirit and the flesh. Every person desiring to serve God feels the battle between these two opposing masters. And Satan is always exploiting our physical and emotional desires to sever our relationship with the Lord. "Your iniquities have separated you from your God" (Isaiah 59:2 NKJV). The Bible begins with the serpent tempting Adam and Eve and follows with the world's deterioration. The New Testament begins with Satan tempting Jesus and follows with the world's salvation.  Read More >>

Satan's Devices.

Who are we to understand by Satan? The word Satan, in its original signification, meant an adversary; and in its general acceptation, is made use of, to point out to us the chief of the devils, who, for striving to be as God, was cast down from heaven, and is now permitted, "with the rest of his spiritual wickednesses in high places, to walk up and down, seeking whom he may devour." We hear of him immediately after the creation, when in the shape of a serpent, he lay in wait to deceive our first parents. He is called Satan, in the book of Job, where we are told, that "when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, Satan also came amongst them."  Read More >>

Snares of Satan

”The great controversy between Christ and Satan, that has been carried forward for nearly six thousand years, is soon to close; and the wicked one redoubles his efforts to defeat the work of Christ in man's behalf and to fasten souls in his snares. To hold the people in darkness and impenitence till the Saviour's mediation is ended, and there is no longer a sacrifice for sin, is the object which he seeks to accomplish.  Read More >>

The Battle of Armageddon

The name “ARMAGEDDON” strikes terror and foreboding in the minds of many. Some imagine a monumental world war surrounding the Middle East. Others envision an Antichrist battling for world supremacy. Still others do not know what to believe or expect. The word “Armageddon” itself translates “a symbolic name” . Yet the Scriptures do teach that there will be an immense battle which involves the whole world!  Read More >>

NWO and Armageddon

The purpose of this subject is to discover the inspired meaning of Armageddon. Many of you who listen will be surprised to learn that the battle of Armageddon is not exactly as you have heard it in the past. Many evangelists have endeavoured to draw crowds by sensational preaching but Armageddon is not a battle between the East and West. Neither does the Bible teach that the battle of Armageddon agrees with the secret rapture theory believed by most Protestant churches of today.  Read More >>

When was Lucifer cast out of heaven

Lucifer and his angels were cast out of heaven due to rebellion Isaiah 14:12-14 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.  Read More >>

Deliverance Ministries. Another Look

While recognizing the existence of genuine cases of demon-possession and the need of relief for the oppressed victims of Satan's control, the [BRICOM] committee nevertheless felt unable to endorse "spiritual warfare and deliverance ministry" as it is presently being practiced in various circles (including some among Adventists). There are problems with some of the philosophical underpinnings of the contemporary "deliverance ministry,'' and these have been examined to some extent in the previous section of this report . . .  Read More >>

Victory Over Sin

On September 5, 1974 the editorial page of the Review and Herald addressed one of the most important problems facing Christians in a secular world. Kenneth Wood's comments deserve our thoughtful attention. Perhaps the most serious danger that threatens the church is that it will lose its uniqueness, that it will become like the world around it, that its schools, its medical institutions, its methods of promotion, its literature, its standards of measuring success, will be scarcely distinguishable from those of the secular world.  Read More >>
